Get Your Kicks on Route 66’s Centennial Celebration

Join TTMA to hear all about the 2026 centennial celebration of Route 66! Officially commissioned in 1926, Route 66 stretched from Chicago, connecting communities and stimulating tourism and economic growth in mostly small towns across eight states. It also traversed Pasadena, ending in Santa Monica. The route became a cultural icon - “The Mother Road” – immortalized in The Grapes of Wrath, celebrated in the classic 1946 song “Get Your Kicks on Route 66,” in the 1960-64 Route 66 television show, and beloved by generations of American and International travelers seeking freedom, exploration, and connection.

Hear Tere Stamoulis, The Stamoulis Group and California Historic Route 66 Association board member, speak about the Route 66 Commission established by congress to guide the national celebrations in 2026. Christine Susa, of Visit Pasadena will describe the city’s plans for the Route 66 Centennial and the 150-year anniversary of Colorado Blvd, and Ashley Dowgwillo from Santa Monica Travel & Tourism will describe Santa Monica’s role as the Route 66 Centennial endpoint.
