About this Event
Get your Game On! The use of Games with CCPT and considerations for use Culturally Relevant Games (3 CEs)
Ready to go deeper with your CCPT Skills?
Ready to incorporate games in your CCPT sessions?
Need help considering how to incorperate culturally relevant games?
Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) is a dynamic Play Therapy modality which involves many skills and modification options for varying ages. Even after completing my certification and using it for 8 years I am still learning, developing, and gaining greater appreciation for what this model offers children.
Games can be a very powerful way clients can communicate and do therapeutic work during a Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) session. We will identify the therapeutic power of game play and common themes that arise at various stages of play. We will focus on Viginia Axline’s 8 principles to guide our use of CCPT skills to game play. Through experiential learning we will work through “sticky situations” to remain client-centered and maintain integrity of the model.
During this training we will be discussing how to incorporate games from client’s native cultures into the Child-Centered Play Therapy process to remain culturally relevant. Participants will increase in awareness of how they can collaborate with caregivers in this process.
In the spirit of CCPT, hands-on, experiential learning will abound in this training. We will utilize role play, lecture, and handouts to include multiple learning styles and provide ample practice. Space will be limited to a small number of participants in order to provide effective coaching.
This would be an intermediate level training so at least a 2-day CCPT training in the fundamentals of CCPT is recommended. This training is for various levels of play therapists who are looking to increase their skills or veterans who just want a fun refresher.
Prerequisite: This training is for licenced mental health professionals, or current students studying to become licensed in a mental health field.
It is required that participants have had a 2-day basic workshop (or equivalent grad class) in CCPT. After registration you will receive an email requesting the dates of the CCPT training (or class) you attended.
Learning Objectives
