If you've got a sewing machine but have no idea how to use it but would love to learn, then this is the workshop for you! 🧵🪡
In this workshop Caron will teach you basic sewing skills and techniques to enable you to work on projects at home.
You will cover a variety of simple sewing exercises on sample pieces building up a sample file for you to keep and use as a reference before moving on to sewing a tote bag.
Caron will cover threading a machine, needles and feet, cutting and pinning, straight seams, seam allowances and seam finishes along with decorative seams, mastering corners and curves, adding a pocket, working with bias binding, working with shirring elastic, working with gathers, introduction to jersey fabrics, working with batting, and basic applique and inserting a cushion cover zip.
You will then make a reversible tote bag using the skills you have learnt on the day.
All materials, equipment and sewing machines are provided. Tea, coffee and cake included but please bring a packed lunch.
