Mark your calendars for the upcoming registration for our German language school on September 6, from 10 AM to 12 PM. Classes will officially start on Saturday, September 13, also from 10 AM to 12 PM, and will be held every Saturday thereafter, ensuring a consistent learning experience unless notified otherwise by the principal.
We have tailored classes for various age groups. The Pre-School/Kindergarten class is designed for children aged 3-5 years who have some exposure to German at home. This engaging class focuses on vocabulary and speaking skills through age-appropriate songs, games, and play, primarily in German, while offering English support as needed.
For children aged 6-9, the Early Elementary age class uses an interactive approach involving games, songs, and verses to enhance language acquisition. This includes drawing, coloring, some writing, and memorizing short rhymes, with a strong emphasis on reading and vocabulary.
Older students, aged 10-14, will find the Late Elementary/Middle School age class emphasizes conversations, vocabulary building, grammar, writing, and poetry memorization, all conducted primarily in German.
Adults can choose from several classes based on their proficiency levels. Beginners will start with fundamental sentence structures and vocabulary, while Intermediate students will refine their skills through further grammar studies and conversational practice. The Advanced class requires a solid foundation in German and focuses on conversation, composition writing, grammar review, and culturally relevant readings.
Additionally, we offer a Literature Discussion Group for fluent German speakers, focusing on contemporary novels, short stories, and poems. This engaging class promotes lively discussions while exploring works by notable authors such as Bernhard Schlink and Judith Hermann, with enrollment capped at ten students.
Tuition for the year is set at $350 for the first family member and $300 for additional members, plus a non-refundable registration fee of $50 per person (with a maximum of $100 per family). However, full voting members of Zion Church only need to pay the registration fee of $50 and a reduced tuition rate of $150, totaling $200.
Don't forget, if you register by Friday, August 29, you can waive the registration fee.
Please send your registration and payment via email to [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) or mail it to Zion Church at 400 E. Lexington Street, Baltimore, MD 21202. Checks should be made payable to Zion Church. You can also pay online through PayPal please contact the church office.
