The wonders of Cuba’s natural world will come alive as we explore this fascinating island with Gerald Winegrad, an experienced naturalist. Carol Swan’s photos bring to life the Cuban birds, landscapes, and people. Cuba’s surprising biodiversity features 28 endemic birds, including the Bee Hummingbird, the smallest bird in the world (2.5”), and the Cuban Tody (both above). 27 endemics were seen. The rare critically endangered endemic Cuban crocodile also was seen while in the remote Zapata swamp, both pictured above. The presentation will include a cultural and historical examination of Cuba and the resilience and friendliness of its people.
