Everyone is invited! We'd love to see some new faces!!The members of the Fruitland Grange meet once or twice a month (depending on the month) on Mondays at 7:00pm and would love for you to visit us to see what the Grange is about.
Grange meetings are held using "Parliamentary Order" which includes some formality and tradition (we're very casual about the formality though ;) ), so you'll see all the Grange officers wearing a traditional sash and we all sit in specific assigned places in the room.
To start the meeting, the Grange President will call the meeting to order with a gavel, there are some traditional words that are said by different members to proclaim 'the Grange open', next we'll hear the minutes of the previous mtg (although they usually go out via email), will hear from each Standing Committee (Building & Grounds, Agriculture, Fair Display, Education, Legislature, Outreach, Bazaar, Contests, etc), hear the Treasurer's Report, and then the Lecturer will make an educational presentation--we have learned about everything from Fire Safety to the origins of OctoberFest.
Finally, we review Old Business and anyone can bring up New Business. The meeting is then formally closed with traditional words read by specific officers of the Grange.
Throughout the meeting, members can make a motion. Once the motion is seconded, we discuss and then vote on it. Majority rules.
