Gene Therapy Research for Wet AMD

Hosted by AbbVie in partnership with Colorado Retina Associates, this educational dinner program is designed to advance understanding of emerging treatment options for wet age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). As part of our ongoing commitment to improving patient outcomes, our practice is proud to be involved in two pivotal gene therapy clinical trials: ATMOSPHERE and ASCENT.

These Phase III trials focus on the development of RGX-314, a groundbreaking one-time gene therapy with the potential to provide lasting solutions for wet AMD, offering hope for a transformative shift in the treatment of retinal diseases

• Treatment Burden and Visual Outcomes in nAMD Gene Therapy: Current challenges in nAMD treatment and the potential for improved patient outcomes.
• Mechanism of Action & Routes of Delivery: An in-depth explanation of how RGX-314 works and the innovative subretinal delivery procedure.
• Overview of Investigational ABBV-RGX-314 Phase III nAMD Trials: Insight into the design and objectives of these landmark clinical trials.
• Study Design of ATMOSPHERE & ASCENT Clinical Trials: A closer look at the trial protocols, endpoints, and patient monitoring.
• Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria: Key eligibility criteria for participating in the ATMOSPHERE & ASCENT trials.

Dr. Murtaza Adam, Retina Specialist and Principal Investigator for the ATMOSPHERE & ASCENT trials, will provide expert insights into the active research aimed at addressing the underlying causes of AMD by modifying or replacing defective genes in retinal cells.
