Gene Farris
A global ambassador of Chicago house music sound, Gene Farris has contributed to the evolving house and techno culture of this century. He started spinning vinyl- Acid House, Disco and the classic Chicago style of his peers. Inspired by Lil’ Louis, Gene developed a unique sound at a young age. In the early 90’s, he played the legendary underground warehouse parties in Chicago, and has Dj in over 42 countries around the globe that solidified his career behind the decks. In 1994 Gene hit the studio with a profound sense of innovation and audio brilliance.As a self-taught engineer and producer Gene Farris has put out 7 albums and over 200 releases in a 30 year span and shows now signs of slowing down. Gene Farris is the true definition of Legend.

Having previously toured and released under different guises and styles, GAWP is certainly no stranger to the music industry...
As a result of a lifetime spent in the studio perfecting his craft and committing to releasing only music of the highest standard, GAWP has produced a string of tracks on Mixmag’s ‘Label of the Decade’ Dirtybird, as well as on highly respected imprints such as Beatport’s 2023 label of the year, Toolroom. His latest release on Shermanology’s label D’eaupe joins an impressive list of contributions to other notable labels, including Sony, Warner, In:Rotation, Night Bass, Farris Wheel, Heldeep, Nervous, Skint, and many more.
GAWP’s productions consistently gain support from a vast spectrum of established artists and peers encompassing the likes of Marco Corola, James Hype, Justin Martin, Fatboy Slim, Chris Lake, Mark Knight, Walker and Royce and Kyle Watson to name just a handful. Idris Elba has been a huge fan of GAWP’s productions asking him to remix his latest track ‘Body Shots’ after a string of releases on his 7Wallace label.
Also he’s had privilege of collaborating with exceptional vocalists in the music industry from the likes of Florence Glen, The Melody Men, Rae, Zof, Tasita D’Mour, D08 and even Hayla. Who was known for her contributions on tour with deadmau5, Example and Pete Tong.
This support across the board has quite rightly translated into DJ shows the world over. From previous tours in the US and Australia to regular events throughout Europe, GAWP has consistently proven himself on the circuit. Tipped as DJ Mag’s “One To Watch” and the direct support act for Oliver Heldens and Gene Farris on their respective tours, GAWP is able to provide accompaniment to a wide range of DJ’s whilst never failing to showcase his signature, unorthodox sound.
