hunter gatherer is a quasar near and dear.
kelly and spencer have been playing together for ten years in the forest city. recently, calvin joined the constellation of beautiful chaos and brought another dimension to their sound. to celebrate a decade of creative destruction, hunter gatherer released an ep called threegathered, which features re-recordings of old songs with the addition of bass. this gift reveals experimentation through and through. consider, for instance, how their eponymous song “hunter gatherer”—first released in 2014—is a dizzying mobius strip of sound that is deeply grounded, too. from the original to the re-recorded version, this song, like other ones, explores another plane, one that finds the listener gently touching the contours of clouds while encountering creatures that visit windowsills quietly with their ephemeral shapes that offer everything from the lovely lull of a daydream to the thrill of a nightmare. hunter gatherer tell stories we know but have never heard.

with the musculature of flute, 71 km/h drums, hard-knuckled bass lines, and 5-alarm guitar licks alongside a yodel or two, genius genius and the rough patches play bedroom pop songs in public, songs that are, sometimes, the size of your pinky toe. one might go so far as to say that the band is "experimental rock." in late 2022, after a musical hiatus, mike started the project genius genius; then, in the spring of 2023, mike started playing with melissa and alan. since then, the three of them have played a handful of shows and started writing and recording together. while mike has released several albums under genius genius, the music truly comes alive with the rough patches--he really loves them.
isaak and the holy guitar is energy times three
since the age of 4, isaak has been creating and performing music for friends and family on drums, acoustic guitar, and, finally, the holy grail--electric guitar! now, at 11, isaak performs solo in his project isaak and the holy guitar. his performances are infused with a healthy dose of comedy, like the comedy troupe his stage name pays homage to. as a singer-songwriter with no genre boundaries, isaak's songs range from sentimental indie rock ballads about a lost cat ("gigi") to a pop punk song about a notorious bruins' player ("brad marchand"). he even launches into heavy screamo riffs in a song about being true to yourself ("humans are humans"). after a number of open mic performances, isaak is excited to make his official debut and share his creative passion with local communities.
