The City Nature Challenge is an annual, global, community science competition to document urban biodiversity. This challenge engages residents and visitors to find and document plants, animals, and other organisms living in urban areas. Our goal is to make Carroll County #1 in the greater Baltimore metro area for number of observations. Join the City of Westminster and the Friends of Hashawha Bear Branch for the 2025 City Nature Challenge Kick-off Event! Learn how to use iNaturalist and discover how to participate in the 2025 City Nature Challenge, taking place from April 25th-28th. Participants will have the opportunity to win prizes in various categories, including most observations and most species identified.
Experienced iNaturalist users will be on-site to answer questions and troubleshoot technology issues. This family-friendly event will have something for everyone. Activities include: Dip-Netting, Bird Watching 101, Plant ID Hikes, and more.
