Have some gear that needs a little TLC? Bring it in for a repair workshop andtroubleshoot in the classroom. With the guidance of an experienced gear sewist, learn
techniques to extend the life of your gear. Learn to care for, maintain, and fix your most
loved equipment; we’ll cover topics from washing and drying to hole-patching and seam
fixing. You’ll learn steps for preventative maintenance, repair kit essentials, item-specific
repairs (including tents, jackets, and bags).
Bring with you:
➔ An item(s) to repair
➔ Materials to repair items (matching thread and/or fabric, seam tape, gear
patches, etc.)
Class 1: Prepare
➔ An overview of different gear, fabrics, and materials. We will talk about what
makes an item repairable, how to maintain and prevent the need for a repair, and
how to decide when to replace the item altogether.
Class 2: Repair
➔ Repair your items. Together, we will figure out the best way to repair your
item and you’ll have time in our lab to get to work!
