Welcome to the Revival of the GDC Morning Detox Marathon!
As the Game Developers Conference (GDC) once again assembles the gaming community, we're thrilled to reintroduce the cherished tradition of the GDC Morning Detox Marathon! Initiated by Noel Llopis, and brilliantly named by Kayla Kinnunen, this event is your perfect start to each conference day, offering a refreshing escape from the whirlwind of meetings, talks, and social gatherings.
What's The GDC Morning Detox Marathon?
Forget the idea of a grueling marathon; our "Morning Detox" is a friendly, easy-paced jog. Our route takes us from the heart of downtown up Market St to the picturesque Pier 14 on the Embarcadero and back, covering just under 3 miles. It's flat, it's scenic, and it's a fantastic way to experience San Francisco without the dread of its infamous hills. This run is tailored for those who are comfortable with a bit of physical activity - not necessarily for absolute beginners but certainly manageable for those with a bit of running experience.
Who Can Join?
Everyone! Whether you're a game developer, a conference attendee, or just someone who loves running, this event is for you. Our aim is to foster a supportive, non-competitive community where everyone feels welcome, regardless of their background or skill level. The GDC Run is about enjoying the fresh air, reducing hangover blues, and making new friends in the gaming community. Discriminatory or predatory behavior is strictly prohibited to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all.
Participation Details
No signups, RSVPs, or fees required. Simply lace up and meet us at the designated starting point. While the San Francisco mornings can be brisk, we recommend dressing in light layers and considering gloves if you tend to get chilly.
