This is a local favorite- The Dirty Chatfield and Waterton Canyon Route! If you haven't been to the top of Wateron Canyon lately, you're in for a real treat as the Strontia Springs Reservoir is overflowing creating an impressive waterfall for the first time in years!
ROUTE DETAILS:
We will meet up at Reynolds Landing - 6745 S Santa Fe Dr, Littleton, CO 80120
Be there at 7:45 am to meet other riders.
Wheels down at 8:00 am sharp. (We will wait no more than 5 min. If you find yourself running late please text Laura at 303-726-4774 and meet us further long the route.)
This is a beginner/intermediate ride which may not be suitable to a new-to-gravel riders. (We say this mostly because of the fact that we won’t have specific pace leaders or sweeps.)
We'll be on the High Line Canal trail and a few other dirt paths and trails through Chatfield State Park getting to Waterton Canyon. Once in the canyon, it is a gradual (2% average grade) climb of about 7 miles up / 7 miles down. The surface is quite packed and smooth and it is closed to all unauthorized vehicles.
There is a little bit of double track and single track both getting there and coming back, but nothing too technical or steep. Expect some sandy and loose dirt in the trails outside the canyon.
Afterwards, stay and grab a drink and food from Breckenridge Brewery with us!
