About this Event
DIRECT From NY: Award Winning Will Nolan stars in “Gay History for Straight People,” where his alter ego Leola, a Kelly Clarkson-obsessed, redneck senior-citizen lesbian, breaks down “the wonderful world of gayness; taking audiences on a guided tour through the alphabet from Anal Beads to Unicorns.” Winner of the 2020 BroadwayWorld Cabaret Award for Best Spoken Word, a 2019 review said of Gay History: “when [audiences] weren't laughing and spit taking into [their] cosmos [they] were cheering and applauding.”
Leola, and her adventures in Lady Land, is the creation of writer/performer/semi-redneck Will Nolan. Winner of the Long Island City Flying Solo Festival two years in a row, Leola has appeared across the country in a variety of fringe festivals, regional theatres and middle-aged birthday parties, doing her best to heal the country, one audience at a time. Leola’s unique brand of comedic entertainment has been compared to Dame Edna’s Hillbilly Cousin, giving a TedTalk from the Bible Belt. Keep track of Leola @leolasladyland
Don't miss Leola's strictly limited return for Sat Oct 8th @ 7pm Columbus Day Weekend ONLY on Sansom Street in Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Square.
