Come together with Black artists and creatives from our area for an evening of connection, fellowship, and vision-building. This is a space to share your voice, expand your network, and explore new opportunities to collaborate and strengthen our creative community. Why This Matters:
Michigan has a rich history of supporting the arts, once ranking second in the nation (after New York) for per-capita arts funding. Our state was known for investing in creativity, culture, and community. Together, we want to honor that legacy and work toward a future where Black artists can thrive right here in Michigan.
The Conversation:
• Building stronger networks among Black creatives
• Exploring future opportunities for collaboration across the state
• Discussing the challenges of accessing sufficient arts funding and how we can advocate for more equitable support
When: Tuesday, October 14th
Where: 1243 S Jefferson Ave, Saginaw, MI 48601
Who Should Come: Black artists, creatives, and supporters in the Great Lakes Bay Region
Please spread the word and invite other Black artists and creatives in your community. Together, we can shape the future of the Great Lake Bay Region’s creative landscape.
This series of conversations and listening sessions are being held by the Arts and Culture committee of the Black Leadership Advisory Council. BLAC acts in an advisory capacity to the Michigan governor and develops, reviews, and recommends policies and actions designed to eradicate and prevent discrimination and racial inequity in Michigan.
