GATHER: Family Day at Luxe

This Family Day, we're opening our doors and turning the Luxe Convention Centre & Hyatt Place Hotel into a cultural playground for Mississauga families. In collaboration with the Mississauga Arts Council.

Live music from a 7-piece band. Latin dance sessions. Creative Workshops. 30+ musical instruments to explore. A magic show. Food stands, tasting stations, and a full dinner service to end the night.

A gathering where local artists share their craft, kids get to create and move, and families enjoy a full day of activities together.

Entry is free. Just register to save your spot.
Come and go as you like, stay for an hour or stay all day.
Three creative workshops are available to book separately; all fees go directly to the artists.

DANCE Get moving with two high-energy Latin dance sessions led by Yambeque Latin Dance. Rumba Therapy at 1:30pm. Salsa at 3:30pm. All ages. No experience needed.

EXPLORE The World of Musical Instruments brings 30+ instruments from cultures around the globe. Bow a violin. Strike a gong. Play a steel pan. Kids (and adults) can touch, play, and discover. Presented by Folklore Music & Arts.

CREATE Drop by the Button Making Station hosted by the Art Gallery of Mississauga. Design your own wearable art.

WONDER A 45-minute interactive magic show before dinner. Close-up tricks. Big laughs. Perfect for kids and the kids at heart.

LIVE MUSIC A 7-piece band closes out the night with an eclectic mix of ska, reggae, calypso, and pop-rock. Enjoy the show with dinner starting at 6pm.

Go deeper with one of three hands-on workshops led by local artists. Spots are limited — book in advance. All fees go directly to the artists.

Paper Quilling | 12-1:30pm | $25 Learn the art of turning paper strips into intricate floral designs. A meditative, beautiful craft that's easier than it looks. Led by Deepa Krishnan.

Family Songwriting | 2-3:30pm | $25 Write a song together as a family. No musical experience needed. You'll leave with a recording of your original creation. Led by award-winning artist JSAL.

Candle Making | 3:30-5pm | $35 (or $60 for two) Pour your own candle in a handcrafted ceramic jar. Choose your scent. Take home something you made together. Led by Cheryl Jairaj.

Grab a bite between activities - protein bowls, ravioli, chicken fingers, smoothies, and more. Dinner service starts at 5pm with family platters and a full menu.

We've hosted many gatherings at Luxe. Now we're aiming to create something more - a cultural home for Mississauga.

Family Day is our first step. A day to connect local artists with the community. To give families something meaningful to do together. To show what's possible when you open the doors and invite people in.

Info: Paper quilling is a decorative art form involving rolling, shaping, and gluing strips of paper to create beautiful designs. Simple to learn, safe for children, and allows for endless creativity! An intricate art form with therapeutic benefits—sure to be rewarding for all skill levels.

Info: A family-friendly, high-energy Latin dance experience. Rumbaterapia is a joyful dance fitness party. The session is intended to be dynamic, culturally rich, and designed for all ages. Focus on the joy and connection as you dance!

Info: A multimedia button making station. Participants can access materials for drawing and collage, with staff providing instructions and operating the button machine. Buttons are 2" diameter. An easy drop-in activity that will run continuously!

Info: "Find Your Inner Phoenix" — a guided family songwriting and journaling workshop. No musical experience required! Families work together through journaling prompts, turn words into lyrics, create melody and rhythm, and perform together. Includes a live group recording your family can take home!

Info: A hands-on workshop where participants learn basics of candle making, choose their scent, and pour their own candle into a handcrafted 10oz ceramic jar - a meaningful keepsake to take home! All materials included. The workshop emphasizes slowing down, being present, and creating something beautiful together!

Info: A family-friendly, high-energy Latin dance experience! Salsa class includes fun, easy steps, partner and group activities. The session is intended to be dynamic, culturally rich, and designed for all ages. Focus on the joy and connection as you dance!

Info: Participants can hold and explore 30+ musical instruments from diverse cultures. Activities include: bow a violin, squeeze an accordion, strum a guitar, pluck a harp, play a steel pan, Saregam on harmonium, strike a gong, play an Indigenous drum, musical scales on keyboard or glockenspiel, and more! This activity is educational, hands-on, celebrates diverse cultures.
