About this Event

The community is invited to join us on Monday January 15, 2024 as we celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. and witness the artistic expressions of young performing and visual artists.

During this event, youth will showcase performing and visual arts based on the 2024 theme Nonviolent Solutions 365: Spreading Hope, Courage and Unity

Students are invited to enter the contest using the online entry form.

The contest is open to all Gaston County K – 12 youth. Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners in the Visual Arts, Oratorical Arts, and Performing Arts for elementary, middle, and high school students. Entries must be received no later than Friday December 15, 2023.

This Year’s Topic

"Nonviolent Solutions 365 " encourages young artists to express their thoughts, ideas, and dreams regarding peace, unity, and social justice. Through visual arts, performing arts, and oratory, participants will have the opportunity to share their unique perspectives and message on nonviolent solutions.

Prompt: “Nonviolence is absolute commitment to the way of love. Love is not emotional bash; it is not empty sentimentalism.
