About this Event
It's fun to make your own clothes and it's even better when they fit you well.
During Garment Sewing Weekend you will learn how to fit and sew your own garments. We'll get into body measurements and pattern adjustments on Saturday. Bring a pattern and fabric you would like to work with. On Sunday we'll cover tailoring, alterations, and repair. Bring some (clean!) items from your closet that you want to adjust or mend. You'll get to try out tools and techniques that help make your projects successful. Sign up for Saturday, or Sunday, or both!
Saturday, Oct 4th 10AM - 4PM: Garment Sewing
Sunday, Oct 5th 10AM - 4PM: Tailoring, Hemming, and Mending
Both Oct 4th + Oct 5th: Everything!
Pattern Preparation
Use your body measurements and the pattern size chart to make sure you are working with a pattern in your size. Don't use your 'off the rack' clothing size. Most pattern makers have their own size chart and their size may not be the size you usually buy at the store.
If you are using a printable PDF pattern, you should purchase, download, and print out all pages of your pattern before class. It’s easy to print out your pattern at home and tape the pages together. If you want to have your pattern printed on 36” x 48” paper (copy shop or A0 printer), PDF Plotting is a great choice. FedEx Office and Staples can also print this format.
If you are using a traditional pattern, please bring all pages of the pattern, including the envelope and instructions.
