About this Event
Garlic & Alliums- Work & Learn at the Growing Hope Urban Farm
Come join us at the Growing Hope Urban Farm for a fun and educational event all about garlic and alliums! Get your hands dirty as we work together in the garden, learning all about these flavorful and versatile crops. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, there's something for everyone at this hands-on workshop. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with nature and your community while gaining valuable skills.
The workshop will begin at 2pm and be led by local Black farmer and educator TC Collins. Drawing from his lifetime of growing food, he'll offer best practices, troubleshooting, and workflows for producing garlic along with onions, scallions, and leeks. Participants will take home garlic to plant in their own home or community garden!
Stick around to join Growing Hope staff and Teen Leaders plant Growing Hope 2026 garlic crop, and celebrate with a potluck at the farm. Bring a dish to pass or just come to learn and eat!
CROP MOB! Optional volunteer opportunity: Bring your new garlic knowledge the next day (Sunday November 10th) to Clay Hill Farm at 9045 MacArthur Blvd from 11-1 to help TC plant his 2026 Garlic crop!
