Flautist Gareth Lockrane, one of the UK’s most celebrated jazz musicians, leads a band of top musicians, all long-time collaborators. Gareth plays all the flutes and is also a pianist, arranger and a prolific composer. He is renowned around the world as one of the most versatile jazz flautists, boasting numerous accolades and awards and a string of high profile appearances alongside the likes of the James Taylor Quartet, Natalie Williams, Lianne La Havas, Nikki Iles and Bheki Mseleku. Once named “Rising Star on Flute” in the prestigious Downbeat Critics Poll, Gareth Lockrane won a Parliamentary Jazz Award in the ‘Best Album’ category for the album ‘No Messin’, while his album “The Strut” was named “Jazz album in the year” in MOJO magazine! Equally skilled as a composer – he has a Master’s Degree from the National Film and Television School – Gareth is also course director of the prestigious junior jazz course at the Royal Academy of Music.
