Gardening with Medicinal Herbs in Palo Alto Join us for a free workshop to learn about growing a variety of medicinal in your backyard or on a patio.
About this Event

Get ready for practical advice on growing medicinal herbs in your garden! There are many helpful, and often beautiful, plants known as medicinal herbs that you can grow at home. Join our experts, Lisa-Marie Maryott (Herb Society of America) and Emily Gogol (Grow It From Home) for this free hour long workshop. Lisa-Marie and Emily will cover:
• Starting a backyard or patio medicinal herb garden
• Sourcing annual and perennial medicinal herbs (seeds, plants, cuttings)
• Plant care and maintenance before harvest
• Practical advice on drying and storing your herbs
This workshop will cover many medicinal herbs that might be known to you (mint, lavender, chamomile) and some that may be new (Cannabis, St. John’s wort, Echinacea). Lisa-Marie and Emily are here to answer your questions on gardening these helpful plants at home. Whether you have a large backyard, or are growing on a patio, we are here to help you get your questions answered and get started gardening!
About Our Guest Speakers
Lisa-Marie Maryott serves on the Board of the Herb Society of America (West District Delegate) and is a clinical Western herbalist, holistic practitioner, and educator. Lisa-Marie owns Healing Leaves Herbal & Holistic Wellness, where she helps clients develop wellness strategies to feel healthier, happier, and more vibrant. She has taught both herbalism certification courses and public workshops around the San Francisco Bay Area and is a member of the American Herbalists Guild.
Emily Gogol, PhD. is nationally known for her work in the Cannabis industry, leading the team at Infinite Tree, which develops and produces new Cannabis varieties. Emily is passionate about developing the next generation of plants to make both commercial farmers and gardeners successful. In 2020 Emily launched Grow It From Home, which provides Cannabis plants to backyard gardeners across the U.S. and promotes education, access and equity. This work has recently been featured in the LA Times. Previously, Emily worked in San Francisco achieving her PhD in Biomedical Science from UCSF while engaging in community work. Emily is a recognized leader by the State of California, having created three community organizations and two public parks from the ground up. She lives in the Applegate Valley, OR where she is always trying to carve out time away from work to garden on her 23-acre organic certified farm.
