Doddridge draws on memories of self and place to realise through eco-autobiography, the connection formed between internal and external reflection. Memories and materials from the garden are combined, describing the intertwining of human and non-human lives. Within a garden, an exchange of reciprocal care is developed as sense impressions are recorded and imprinted as memories. Sights, smells and foods bring about recollections, revealing what is in the mind.
