About this Event

Did you know that there are over 2000 species of native bees in Australia? Who might live in your patch? And how can we make that space the best it can BEE?

Join us to celebrate World Bee Day in this interactive workshop where we will learn about the diversity of native bees, where they live, and what flowers they feed on. Participants of all ages will be supported with strategies to design and nurture your own spaces (big or small!) for people and pollinators.

Bio- Dr Amelie Vanderstock (Amelie Ecology) is a science communicator, musician and educator with a PhD in native bee ecology. She uses citizen science to explore the diversity and awareness of pollinators in urban community gardens and bushland. Amelie also researches how we can grow more positive attitudes towards insects through gardening. Based on her ecological research, Amelie writes family-friendly songs as "Amelie Ecology" and has performed in schools and festivals across Australia and Japan including Woodford Folk Festival and National Science Week. Amelie is currently working on her debut musical album and educational resource kit ‘Let’s BEE Scientists’, for preschool and early primary to be released on World Environment Day, 2024.
