Gardening 101: Tomato Series #1 of 5Join us for a comprehensive five-part workshop series focused on all aspects of growing tomatoes, held once a month from January through May at Millican Reserve. Whether you’re a novice gardener or looking to refine your skills, this series covers everything from seed to pantry.
Series Breakdown:
Part 1: Planning, Selection, and Germinating – Start your tomato journey by learning how to select the best varieties for your garden, plan your growing season, and successfully germinate your seeds.
Part 2: Potting Up, Pruning, and Prepping Garden Space – Discover how to pot up your seedlings, prune for optimal growth, and prepare your garden space for the upcoming transplant.
Part 3: Transplanting and Trellis Systems – Learn the best practices for transplanting your tomatoes into the garden and setting up trellis systems for support.
Part 4: Trellis Demonstration, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and Pruning – Get hands-on experience with trellising techniques, learn how to manage pests using IPM strategies, and continue developing your pruning skills.
Part 5: Harvesting and Preservation – Reap the rewards of your labor by learning the best techniques for harvesting your tomatoes and various methods to preserve them.

Parking
Please use the Farm Entrance to Millican Reserve (19851 FM 2154). Designated parking is at the Base Camp grassy area.
