About this Event
Gardeners of Burlington presents guest speaker Catherine McGill : “When the Ground gets Lower: aging and gardening”. Please come and join a friendly group of amateur gardeners interested in learning more about all aspects of gardening.
This talk will focus on the problems of physically aging as a gardener- something all gardeners can relate to; however, the discussion will be valuable and applicable to gardeners of all ages. Based on personal experience of over 30 years, Catherine will focus on gardening tips and tricks for seniors, how to work safer, getting the garden to work better for you, and tools that will help you to work more effectively.
Catherine McGill, after a two decade-long career as a professional Chef, Blacksmith, Horse Trainer, and Riding Instructor, but her passion for gardening led her to create her own garden maintenance company. With over forty years in the business, she is a highly experienced gardener with many senior clients. Her horticultural knowledge extends to being a Horticultural and Design judge. Catherine is also very active as a volunteer in the field of gardening having been the OHA Director of District 6 and was a Board member Representative for the OHA Southwest region. She continues to volunteer as an administrator on gardening Facebook pages, for GardenOntario, District 6 and the Haldimand Horticultural Society. Her motto in life is: if you can’t see the humour in what you are doing, then why are you doing it?
