Garden with Us & How to Start a Pollinator Patch: Adventure Begins at Your Library • Huerten juntos y cómo iniciar un parche de polinizadores: La aventura comienza en tu bibliotecaBackup in case of rain: Friday, June 28, 2024, 2:30-3:30 p.m.
Be sure to dress comfortably for the weather in clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Don't forget water and sunscreen! Trowels and gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own gardening tools if you prefer.
From 2:30-3, we'll start in the Community Room on the second floor of the library for a presentation from Root Pike WIN on how to keep our water supply clean, how pollinator patches support the environment, and how to start your own patch.
From 3-3:30, we'll spend time gardening in the library's pollinator patch, where Kristine Heuser from Root Pike WIN will teach you how to identify harmful weeds and keep your patch healthy. We'll also assemble the library's new hydroponics tower, which will educate library visitors on how to grow healthy plants.
Watch out for seed bundle giveaways at the end of the year to help you start your patch! We recommend sewing new patches on an empty patch of ground in December or January.
