About this Event
Members of Urban Soil Tierra Urbana housing co-op in the LA Eco-village (LAEV), commit themselves to demonstrating that living in the city can be environmentally friendly.
Come walk the Urban Soil grounds with us as we explore what’s growing, how it’s cultivated - and maybe get some pro-tips to optimize urban garden space.
Observe various water-wise practices and several composting methods. Chickens and fish will demonstrate their roles.
You’ll see 26 varieties of fruiting tree and vegetable gardens that feed us and provide habitat and forage for song birds and other wild life. You will experience the nurturing impact of our landscape.
What to wear: Dress for Success. Comfortable walking shoes and ankle length clothes are recommended. The terrain is often uneven, there are a few steps, and you may brush against some prickly plants. Remember your hat and sunscreen. We’ll have some bug-off spray if you forget yours.
Your hosts: Carol has created gardens for over 70 years in the many locations with different climates. Ashley assists with hydroponic growing at the LAEV Institute.
