About this Event
It takes up to 7 years for a maguey to mature — and this season, one is finally ready at Solano Community Garden.
Join us for a special bilingual event (English & Spanish) where you’ll witness the harvesting of this sacred plant and learn about the traditional process of making aguamiel and pulque — ancient agave drinks celebrated for their probiotic and medicinal properties.
While the freshly harvested maguey will begin its fermentation journey, you’ll enjoy a tasting of 11 oz of pulque and 4 oz of aguamiel from a previously tapped plant.
To complete the experience, we’ll serve complimentary garden-baked bread, fresh from our handmade adobe oven perched at the top of the garden — with stunning views of Los Angeles all around.
Learn more about pulque and aguamiel from this blog.
