Embrace your wild side - what to expect:
Please arrive by 18:30pm
The evening will begin with an indoors introduction and we will head out afterwards. Hot drinks will be available (included with your ticket).
What's at Stirley?
Stirley is our West Yorkshire events base where we are transforming a former dairy farm into a wildlife haven. The buildings are only open for pre-booked events only including our Create Barn. There is a network of footpaths zigzagging across the fields that you can explore at any time, helping you to discover the different habitats and wildlife that Stirley offers!
What to bring/wear
Our events mostly take place outside so brace yourself for the Yorkshire weather! Sturdy footwear is recommended and lots of layers. It's likely to be cold in the evenings so please wrap up as warm as possible as there will be lots of standing outside.
In the event of rain, we will have to cancel the event to protect the telescopes and equipment, you will be notified asap and offered a full refund.
Toilets and catering
There is an accessible toilet at Stirley. Simple hot drinks such as tea, coffee and hot chocolate will be avaliable. Please feel free to bring your own snacks and flasks.
Covid-19 secure
If you have tested positive or think you may have Covid-19 we ask you to stay at home. Please contact Supporter Services if this is the case and your booking will be refunded. Visit our events Covid-19 page for more details.
Joining us on the day
Our events generally meet at the Create Barn, which is located just off the main car park.
Parking
Parking is free at Stirley. Please note that during larger events there is limited parking available, which is prioritised for people with mobility issues.
During busy times, please park at Castle Hill, walk back to Ashes Lane and turn left, the footpath to Stirley is opposite the bus stop on the right and near Castle House Farm Cottages. The route is signposted.
Directions
If you’re using a satnav or navigational app such as Google Maps then we recommend you avoid setting directions to ‘Stirley’ as this route may take you down a narrow track which is unsuitable for vehicles.
We advise setting directions to ‘Hall Bower Lane’ or postcode ‘HD4 6RW’.
If you are descending from the High Lane direction then continue past the housing on Hall Bower Lane and, when you reach the bend, the turning for Stirley will be on your left hand side. Follow the gravel track straight up to the end where you will see our car park.
If you are arriving from the Lady House Lane direction, the turning for Stirley will be on your right hand side as the bend in the road meets Hall Bower Lane. Follow the gravel track straight up to the end where you will see our car park.
