Garden of Eden 2.0: Preparing and Protecting
Join us for this seasonal gardening session at the Together Culture garden, located across the Free Press pub and Brandon Court.
While our plants and bulbs are resting over winter, we need to make sure they’re safe and sound from the freezing temperatures. We’ll be mulching and protecting our crops by mulching the soil, creating a protective blanket for the life underneath.
Our aim is to use permaculture design principles, which put the observance of the rhythms of nature first.
About the Garden of Eden 2.0
Together Culture is replanting part of the historic ‘Garden of Eden’ in the front garden of Brandon Court and at The Free Press Pub to build community power inspired by a neighbourhood exploration of our hidden working class heritage.
The Garden of Eden was the market garden that fed Cambridge in the 1800s. You can learn more about this work by listening to podcasts created with Heritage Lottery Funding here.
The Garden of Eden 2.0 will form the heart of a neighbourhood-wide biodiversity project that develops wellbeing and deepens people’s connections with nature and one another, called Barnwell Community Power. The project will make a difference because Cambridge is a city in transformation where tech economy infrastructure projects are making people feel disconnected from their own locality.
