The Baton Rouge Botanic Garden Foundation will host a FREE Garden Discoveries series on camellias led by Paige Mizell of Mizell’s Camelia Hill Nursery located in Folsom. Attendees are invited to learn about Growing & Caring for Camellias, the jewels of our winter gardens. With more than 200 species and 30,000 registered cultivars, camellias offer something for everyone. Mizell will give a history of camellias, introduce you to the many species that are available, the types of blooms the plants can offer, and explain how to maintain a healthy plant that will thrive all year long. Mizell will also highlight camellias with a Louisiana connection along with old favorites and new and unique offerings. Following the presentation, a “Pop Up Plant Sale” will be held featuring popular camellia varieties. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Botanic Gardens.
