About this Event
It is over 180 years since the Trobe family arrived in Melbourne. The early development of the garden that Charles and Sophie La Trobe created at ‘Jolimont’ reflects Charles longing for home with the aim to recreate the ornamental gardens of Europe. However, as the family settled into their new environment, they grew to love the native plants and their bush setting.
Charles took refuge in his beautiful garden from the stresses of his public life. He also felt that the citizens of Melbourne should be able to enjoy public gardens, therefore on the first Sunday of October there will be tours of his garden for the public to enjoy.
Tours of the garden will take place at 1.15pm, 2.15pm and 3.15pm.
Guided tours of the Cottage will also be available throughout the afternoon.
You can arrive anytime between 1pm to 3.15pm. The property will close at 4pm.
