Games “Night” in the Afternoon - September 20th
Good Sam’s Inaugural Games Night will be in the afternoon! Join us on Saturday, September 20th from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Parish Hall. Come when you can, leave when you want! Board games, cards, and puzzles will be available to check out and play. Your own games are as welcome to attend as you are! Please bring your own snacks/drinks to enjoy - water will be available as well! Snacks and drinks must be consumed in Fellowship Hall, but away from the games.
Games will primarily be casual, well-known board games (i.e., Splendor, Azul). A small selection of puzzles will be available. We’re bringing a few games we love from our personal library, but haven’t finalized a list. We mostly play casual “light weight” games that take an hour or less. We’ll bring a variety and probably a few two player games. If there’s enough interest and people, we might move some tables together and have a huge Yahtzee game.
Child care will not be available. We do not have any kids games, but you're welcome to bring one. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and familiar with general rules/concepts/etiquette of gaming.
Game play will start wrapping up at 3:30. The space must be clean and vacated by 4 p.m.
Can I bring a friend?
Please do! We want to get to know our neighbors!
Is there a charge?
No, but hey - it’s a church so we will accept a freewill offering or online donation.
Will there be preaching?
Not unless someone mispronounces Catan. We’ll open and close with a quick and simple prayer.
Will I have to sit through a program about the church?
This isn’t a time-share. We’ll ask you to fill out an optional visitor card or a sign in sheet. There will be info about the church available to take home. Good Samaritan’s LOVE their church and are always happy to talk about it or answer questions.
Is your church inclusive/LGBTQIA+ friendly?
Absolutely! Good Samaritan Episcopal Church is a growing community of open-minded Christians who strive to do what Jesus teaches: to love, serve, and include all people without exception. We are building a joyful, courageous, diverse, and creative fellowship that puts faith into action. We gather to celebrate together, to grow in faith, and to go beyond our walls to connect with and serve our neighbors.
Will there be prizes/give aways?
We’re looking into giving out a few Good Sam’s trinkets, but there will not be prizes or giveaways.
