Three exciting NYC experts are going to digitally participate in a research talk on September 20th. They share a wealth of professional experience working with child-care and psychology. Each of them will explore unique ways games and play are essential for the mental, social, and emotional development of children.
Jil Pullara is the program director for Brooklyn Game Lab Social Skills Program in Brooklyn NYC. She has over five years experience utilizing games to enable skills such as collaboration, relationship building, empathy and creativity in a game setting. She will discuss the roles and functions of games in social-emotional skill development.
Alioune N'Gom is founder and director of New York Society of Play and Fantasy Frontier in Greenpoint Brooklyn. He has a decade of experience working with children especially focusing on emotional intelligence, social growth and non-digital play. He will discuss his approaches and lessons in facilitating safe and engaging child programs.
Dr. Lillian Masek is a post-doctoral researcher on Child Developmental Psychology at New York University. She received her PhD in Psychology from Temple University working with Dr. Kathy Hirsh-Pasek. Her research broadly examines how interactions with caregivers account for individual differences in infant language development and learning. At the Play and Learning Lab, Lillian is expanding her research to investigate caregiver-infant interactions in the home and how aspects of the environment shape these interactions.
