About this Event
Adults 18 & Up
Learn to play card, board, and parlor games popular in the 19th century like Whist, Shut the Box, Short Answer, and more that weould have been popular from the late Georgian/Federalist era (think Dolley Madison and Jane Austen) to the age of Queen Victoria. The library will provide the games (and instructions!).
A brief introduction will be given by Marisa Conner and Elena Wolfe, historic game aficiandos. They'll also be available to help with questions.
The sisters hail from the Great Cheese state and now call Dallas home. Growing up in a large family, games were a huge part of their lives and continue to be a source of fun and mostly friendly sibling competition.
Marisa holds an M.A. in English and loves all things literary, and has a background in communications and marketing. When not tending to her children, she is most likely to be found reading Agatha Christie.
Elena holds degrees in military history and interior design, and has a background in investigations and business operations. When not chasing after a particularly devilish feline, she is most likely to be found painting or drawing horses.
