Game Knight Winter Doubles Warhammer 40k Tournament

Game Knight will host a Warhammer 40,000 DOUBLES tournament (2V2) on January 24th in cooperation with the International Tournament Circuit! Information about the ITC may be found here: https://www.frontlinegaming.org/community/frontline-gamings-independent-tournament-circuit/
FORMAT
-$25.00 entry fee per player ($50 per team). $15.00 of the proceeds from the entry fee will be used to fund prize support in store credit and prizes, $5 into our new table and chair fund, and the remainder will be used to provide pizza for the players.
-The tournament will be played in three rounds of three hours each using Swiss pairings.
-Each player will use a 1,000 point list, which will be combined with their partners' for a total of 2000 points. Players are required to submit lists to Game Knight via Facebook message, upload to Best Coast Pairings, or e-mail by the Thursday prior to the tournament to permit vetting.
-No rules released after January 17th (Codexes, datasheets in new model releases, etc.) will be permitted in the tournament, to ensure all players and the organizers have time to familiarize themselves with the rules.
-The tournament will adhere to the latest FAQs for the game; these may be found here: https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/downloads/warhammer-40000/
-Updated points costs and matched play mission rules in the Munitorum Manual, Balance Dataslate, and Chapter Approved 2025-26 tournament pack (all found at the FAQ download link in the previous point) are in force, though missions themselves will be altered to accommodate doubles play.
-Matched play rules are in force. Armies must have at least one Character and otherwise no more than two of any datasheet or four of any battleline or dedicated transport. Note that this is per player; each player must independently fulfill the army building requirements (and in the case of having the same faction may double up on copies of datasheets, though not Epic Hero units).
-Missions are customized by the event staff to accommodate the doubles format. All missions will have progressive objectives and mirror current Grand Tournament missions as closely as possible with alterations only to fit the format.
-Painting and basing your models is highly encouraged, but we do not remove eligibility for prize support for not doing so. However, What You See Is What You Get to a reasonable standard is required, and fully painted armies are worth 10 victory points in the mission per Chapter Approved. We will have a Best Painted award if we get at least twelve paid entries to the tournament, awarded by an independent painting jury.
-We adhere to the ITC Code of Conduct. Repeated incidents of poor sportsmanship, defined as being verbally abusive, physically aggressive, more than 15 minutes late for a round, or knowingly cheating on a rule, will result in sanctions up to and including ejection from the tournament.
DOUBLES ADJUSTMENTS:
-This tournament will be played using a 2v2 team format ("doubles").
-Teams may be formed prior to the tournament. Single players are also welcome. Players coming without a partner may form teams on the morning of the tournament. The shop staff will make an effort to pair single players who preregister with each other; please reach out if you can't find a partner and we'll try to find one for you. If there is an odd number of single players, the remaining player will be matched with our ringer player.
-Each player's army counts as separate up until the start of the game. This means that each player has a Warlord and each army list must be battle-forged on its own. The only exception is that there may not be repeat copies of unique characters or units on a team.
-The players share a command point pool.
-Players' units interact with each other as their keywords normally allow. This means that aura buffs, psychic powers, transport access, and so forth may be shared between players so long as keywords allow. This does NOT allow doubling up on detachment bonuses; if you have multiple detachment types from the same codex (a Gladius Task Force for one player and a 1st Company Strike Force for the other, for instance) only the respective players' units will benefit from their detachment rules and be subject to the detachment-exclusive Stratagems (but in the above example both could use Oath of Moment as the army rule).
-Secondary objectives (whether to do Fixed or Tactical) are chosen by consensus between the players.
-The players must nominate one of their warlords to be the team's Warmaster. This choice must be noted on their army rosters and may not change during the tournament. This has no rules effect except for interaction with objectives.
-Once the game begins, the armies are combined and treated as controlled by a single player for all rules purposes. This means the team sets up one total unit at a time during the alternating deployment sequence, may not use a given stratagem more than once in any single phase, may not shoot enemy units within 1" of their partner's models, and the team is not considered tabled until no models from either partner are in play.
-All objectives and abilities that interact with the other player's warlord are instead considered to refer to the other team's Warmaster.
Schedule: Doors open at 9:00 Eastern Standard Time for registration and check-in. Dice drop no later than 10:00, or earlier if we're organized and the tables are full before then. The shop nominally closes at 6:00, so we will allow a 30 minute break between the first and second rounds and 15 minutes between second and third. If we run over time, we can accommodate.
Nominal schedule; all times Eastern Standard Time.
