Celebrate the Year of the Horse 2026 with Ivy Hermit and Of Tea through an immersive journey along the legendary Tea Horse Road. For over 1,800 years, this ancient trail linked Yunnan with Tibet, Central Asia, and India—where tea was traded for horses, and ideas, medicines, and spiritual traditions flowed across borders. It was more than a trade route—it was a living artery of culture, resilience, and connection.
In the spirit of the horse—a symbol of strength, movement, and vitality—travelers will explore the reimagined Tea Horse Road stations inspired by historic mountain cities. Along the way, play traditional Chinese New Year games and gather elemental resources: tea, salt, butter, and herbs, each representing nourishment and exchange. The journey culminates in a Tang Dynasty Boiled Tea Ceremony, where tea was transformed from medicine to a beverage (唐煮 Tang Zhu)- prepared in its original form—boiled with healing ingredients to sustain both body and spirit.
