Celebrate Chinese New Year with creative family workshops led by Weave Yard, a local organisation dedicated to community cultural curation.
About this Event

Children and families are invited to explore Chinese New Year traditions through hands-on arts and crafts, including lucky symbols, magic origami designing, and festive fans, and to join a joyful mini performance inspired by Chinese celebration culture. Designed to be accessible, welcoming, and inclusive for families of all backgrounds and abilities.

Weave Yard is a non-profit cultural platform dedicated to community curating and cultural empowerment. As a member of the Museums Association (UK), they work with individuals, families, and grassroots groups to co-create exhibitions, workshops, and creative projects that weave everyday stories into shared cultural expression. By supporting communities to develop curatorial skills and tell their own stories, Weave Yard helps reimagine heritage as participatory, inclusive, and shaped by diverse voices.

There are 3 sessions throughout the day: 11.00-12.00, 13.00-14.00, 14.30-15.30.

Please make sure to arrive on time. We allow a 10-minute grace period for late arrivals. After this point, we cannot guarantee admission to the activity.

This workshop is suitable for ages 5-13.

Tickets cost £1.50 per child and can be purchased online via Eventbrite (booking fee applies) or at the Museum Shop. Each child ticket includes free entry for one accompanying adult. It also includes access to the Galleries. Children must be supervised at all times.

We recommend booking in advance to secure your place.

Sales from tickets help support our work to deliver fun and accessible family activities, community engagement projects, schools workshops, exhibitions and special events for Oxford’s people in our Museum spaces.
