In this artist talk, Patricia Zalisko will discuss how she stumbled upon her process for creating art, a method that largely explains how she thinks. Influenced by a profession in her earlier life, in which words were both a weapon and a tool, Zalisko engages the power of the written word to create her own visual language that eludes precise definition in words. Like working on a mini-crossword, Zalisko writes haiku while painting, puzzling out topics as beautiful as nature and as grim as war.“The written word has always been a powerful prompt for me… The process 'worked' to get me into my own creative practice: it marries the analytical with the creative part of my brain nicely.”
This practice will be explored as Zalisko describes how she conjures up her art.
