About this Event
Gallery 33 is pleased to present Pomegranate Moon, a site-specific installation featuring a celestial chandelier made of neon, mirror, cast glass, and cast-bronze fruit and shells. The exhibition includes sculptural works throughout the space, including a reclining female figure with a video projection of a “fallen muse” eating fruit in quiet intimacy, alongside wall-mounted pieces such as a bronze shell pierced by neon, a pomegranate struck by an arrow, and a conch shell with a female figure emerging.
Drawing on mythic symbolism—Eve, Persephone, the Trojan War, and the birth of Venus—Pomegranate Moon examines how women and the muse have been idealized, eroticized, and punished through stories of temptation, beauty, and fate. By subverting these narratives and letting the “forbidden” become ordinary, the work asks what happens when women refuse the roles assigned to them and the myth can no longer hold. Curated by Gallery 33 Creative Director Amber Arbucci and Margot Ross of Show Gallery.
