Gallery 21 cordially invites you to the Opening Reception of WATERCOLOR, the Palette of Infinite Ideas, featuring art by Chesapeake Bay Watercolorists (CBW), from 5-8pm, Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 115 W. 21st St., Norfolk. Admission is free. Wine from Mermaid Winery will be served. The exhibition will run throughJune 22. Acclaimed local artist, Myke Irving, will judge the art. The exhibition will feature art by CBW members, from novices to experienced award-winning watercolor artists.
From its inception, the CBW has been designed to include critiques and demonstrations to benefit beginners as well as professional artists. Chesapeake Bay Watercolorists is open to all local artists and art enthusiasts who share a passion for watercolor media and share the belief in the mission of promoting and sharing knowledge about watercolor art.
Award-winning multimedia artist, Myke Irving, says he is excited to judge art by members of Chesapeake Bay Watercolorists. “Watercolor is one of the most unforgiving art media. It is difficult to correct mistakes, there’s almost no going back,” Irving explains. “With watercolor, it’s not so much about what you’re painting as what you’re not painting.” Winners will be announced at the Opening Reception. Gallery 21 is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 1-5pm.
