
The Gales of November Conference is a two-day fundraising and educational event hosted annually by the Lake Superior Marine Museum (LSMMA) in Duluth MN to support the preservation of Maritime history and to support the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center. This fun and informational conference features speakers and presentations on Great Lakes maritime history shipwrecks (like the SS Edmund Fitzgerald) lighthouses diving technology and the region's shipping industry. It serves as a networking event for the maritime community and a way to honor the storms and lives lost on the Great Lakes.
Purpose:
To raise funds for and promote the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center while educating the public about maritime history and careers and preserving maritime heritage.
Includes expert presentations discussions on historical events and shipwrecks tours of shipyards and ports exhibitors/vendors and fundraising activities like a silent auction and a chance to win a cruise of a lifetime on a Great Lakes freighter: luncheons cash bar and after-hour receptions.

This year the central focus of the event will be the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the sinking of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald on Lake Superior in November 1975. The event will also feature many other fascinating and informative speakers.
