About this Event
****Changing the time to 5pm - we have a strict end time at 7pm before another class starts**** We will gather in my family's professional working stained glass studio and dive into the beginning bits of the craft to potentially get you hooked on this unique hobby.
And if you end up not getting hooked***, you'll have a greater appreciation for stained glass artists, understand the process, and not have spent hundreds of dollars on tools and supplies! Win-win!
***Very low probability, highly unlikey, only listing as a legal disclaimer 😂😂😂
+⏰+ I've booked us for 4 hours to not feel rushed but we'll probably be done with making our set of hearts closer to 5pm. +⏰+
When our hands-on workshop begins, glass will already be cut for you so you can immediate select your color combos and start foiling. Then we'll move on to soldering, adding a jump ring for hanging, and even changing the silver finish to copper or black if you like! Yes, magic is in session!✨✨✨
By the end of class you will have a couple of your very own handmade hearts and know how to:
- Center and burnish foil so it stays put,
- Keep solder flowing on the copper tape,
- Predict the behavior molten solder so you get a strong beaded finish,
- Expertly tin and add a jump ring to hang your piece,
- Best prep to get a shiny finish and best way to apply copper or black patina.
You will be learning from my over 100 year professional lineage of stained glass arts and build solid, quality practices from the beginning. If anything goes wonky as you practice your new skills, I'll have a tip and a way to adjust your wok to share with you.
Glass seems intimidating and fragile, but it can also be very flexible and forgiving when you know how to work with it.
I look forward to creating with you!
