OPEN MIC CAFÉ – THURSDAYS AT THE GALAXYCome along, grab a coffee or a beer, sit back, eat, and enjoy the tunes, poems, chats, a spot of comedy perhaps.
Every Thursday night from 6:30pm – 8:30pm we open the stage to creatives, songwriters, musicians, poets and performers of all kinds. Whether you're stepping up for the first time or you’ve been playing for years, this is a welcoming, low-pressure space to share your work.
How the open mic works:
Performers can book a 10-minute or 20-minute slot
Message the page ahead of time or put your name down when you arrive
Sets are kept tight and rotating to give everyone a chance to play
Solo acts, duos, acoustic sets, spoken word and stripped-back performances all work well
Basic backline is provided so you can plug in and play with minimal setup.
We keep the format simple and supportive — quick changeovers, respectful listening, and a focus on giving each performer their moment. It’s a great place to test new material, build confidence, and connect with other local creatives.
This is more than just an open mic – it’s a space to collaborate, meet like-minded people, and grow a creative community around live performance.

Food and drinks:
Locally brewed hazy and lager on tap
$8 house drinks (happy hour pricing)

Full kitchen operating – burgers, fish and chips, mac and cheese, nachos and more
