The Austin Empty Bowl Project is preparing for its 29th annual event and we will be spending our September meeting making bowls for the cause with our annual Bowl-a-Thon!!! We'll be meeting and making in the clay studio at the Dougherty Arts Center at 7pm on Tuesday, September 2nd. We will also need some volunteers to return the following evening to help trim bowls from 7-9pm.Clay will be provided by AEBP and we will have wheels, hand-building molds, and tools available. This event is open to the public and instruction will be provided to those who need it for hand-building bowls only. Wheel-throwers must have experience in order to use the pottery wheels; no instruction provided.
This year's Empty Bowls event is Nov. 23 at Central Texas Food Bank. As always, proceeds will go to the children's programs at CTFB and Meals on Wheels Central Texas.
AEBP also has an online silent auction. If you would like to donate something to the auction (does not have to be a bowl), contact AEBP at [email protected], bring your donation to the meeting in a box, or drop it off at Austin Pottery. AEBP will also be collecting finished bowls during our event if you have ones on hand that you would like to donate.
