GABA PROJECT RETURNS TO SARAH'SWEDNESDAY 28 JANUARY
The wonderful and talented GABA PROJECT uniquely combines the Hand pan and Lyra and is the only project of its kind in the world.
Described as a fusion of World, Contemporary Modal and Ambient, the band focuses on experimenting with new musical approaches in arrangement, composition and soundscapes that arise through the musicians' individual influences.
Improvisation is a core element of the Duet that comes from the two members' varying musical knowledge and experiences.
Performing their own original compositions, GABA PROJECT also showcases pieces from the Eastern Mediterranean such as Armenian, Cypriot, Turkish, Greek and Bulgarian yet with a fresh approach, in some cases changing their rhythm and mood and even transforming them entirely.
The group collaborates regularly with other musicians, including the renowned double bassist Nicolas Tryphonos, who adds an even deeper dimension to their sound.
Aside from performing at a number of prestigious local festivals, GABA PROJECT has also participated internationally at Cosmopolis Festival 2023 and Rhodes & South Aegean Int'l Jazz Festival 2024 in Greece.
