Following the success of the Walk in Their Shoes tours of the Family Court of Western Australia, WA Family Law Pathways Network and the Magistrates Court of Western Australia are partnering for a Family Violence Restraining Order / Shuttle Conferencing Walk in Their Shoes tour of the Perth Magistrates Court.
The FVRO/Shuttle Conferencing: Walk in Their Shoes tour aims to help service providers understand their clients’ experience of applying for a Family Violence Restraining Order. Attendees can expect to gain knowledge and understanding of the court process and facilities, including an overview of the legal and other support services available at the Perth Magistrates Court.
*Participants are encouraged to view these prior to the tour.
Preliminary Information:
1. Please dress appropriately for Court.
2. Please note that you will need to pass through the security checkpoint in order to access the tour. Security will require you to place your belongings in a tray in order to go through the x-ray machine. Please note that any metal items, sharp objects, or dangerous substances cannot be taken into the building. There are also metal detectors in use and you may be asked to remove your shoes, belt or jewellery and put them through the x-ray machine.
3. Arrival - Assemble at Ground Floor Reception Area.
4. As part of the tour, you will be entering a courtroom and you must ensure that your mobile phone is switched off and that you have nothing on your head such as a hat, sunglasses, or headphones. If the court is in session, it is customary to bow to the Magistrate as you enter and leave the courtroom.
