We’re inviting you to travel through space and time with the largest exploration of the future by the Smithsonian this November 19-21. FUTURES will host its opening weekend full of site-specific art commissions, research and designs that could change the world, unique pairings and more, all in the name of building a future that is sustainable, equitable and accessible for all. The immersive experience will feature Bill Nye, Pattie Gonia, HBO Max’s “Legendary,” Kal Penn, SHAED, Mariah the Scientist and more. Bring YOUR voice, because these are OUR futures. The biggest celebration of the weekend is a free indoor/outdoor and streamed concert-turned-sonic exploration. Inspired by the vibrant dynamism of Washington’s go-go music scene, this next generation sound experience will push genre boundaries to create an audiovisual journey through the music of the future, featuring featuring certified platinum indie pop trio SHAED, r'n'b rising star Mariah the Scientist, a special performance from the cast of the HBO Max series “Legendary,” in collaboration with DC's Go Go Mainstay Black Alley, Bright Light Bright Light, celebrated drummer and America’s Got Talent semifinalist Malik Dope, National Poetry Slam Champion and Cultural diplomat G. Yamazawa and DJ Underdog
