About this Event
Based in Lyle, Washington, Lefebvre (b. 1981, Plainfield, NJ) is known for her tactile, poetic explorations across painting, textile, and works on paper. With Future-Relic, she unveils a new body of work that draws on natural forms like rocks, fossils, plants - as vessels for ancient stories and speculative futures. Her expressive, layered compositions blur the lines between the archeological and the imagined, posing a provocative question: What will remain of us, and what fictions will be born from our traces?
Through mark-making that feels both intimate and primal, Lefebvre invites us to consider the deep time embedded in every surface—whether it’s a stone underfoot or a story passed down. Her works act as tactile maps to forgotten geographies, folk myths, and the subtle patterns that repeat across time.
Future-Relic will be on view at Hotspells Rocks & Minerals, a hybrid retail and exhibition space in the heart of Los Angeles' Glassell Park neighborhood aling the LA River better know as Frogtown.
Known for its curation of boundary-pushing work across art, design, and the esoteric, Hotspells offers the perfect setting for Lefebvre’s alchemical practice.
