The scientific symposium Future memories is dedicated to analyzing new medical paradigms in the context of cognitive decline. Organized as part of the international project "Optimizing the Aging Brain: Situating Ethical Aspects in Dementia Prevention" (BEAD), which involves the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), the University of Göttingen, and the University of Montreal, the event explores how recent studies on the prevention of dementia and Alzheimer’s are reshaping scientific discourse. The goal is to examine, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the epistemological and ethical aspects of preventing or slowing cognitive decline through lifestyle interventions and public health promotion.
A special highlight of the symposium will be the screening of the film The Book of Vision, directed by Carlo Hintermann and presented at the 77th Venice International Film Festival. Following the screening, the director and symposium speakers will participate in a roundtable discussion, exploring thematic connections between the film and the topics covered during the event, offering an artistic perspective on memory and the future of cognitive health.
